Tips & Squibs

The quality of its communications determines much of a business’s reputation.

Writing is the foundation. Sounds obvious. But the skill is rare, even in the communications profession.

Defining objectives at the beginning pays off.

Defining the audience is also essential. A speech in the wrong language is unlikely to win applause or make a sale.

Graphic design, another basic, has power seldom recognized or fully employed.

Remember the old saw. “I’d have written less if I’d had more time.” Yep. And been more effective.

Educating consultants is expensive; so do it well for long-term cost efficiency.

Consultants can be cost efficient even short term, compared to staff overhead. They bring specialized skills and an outsider’s objectivity, and cost nothing after the project is completed.
